At the AIT Center for Transport Technologies, around 200 experts are working on solutions for sustainable, safe, intelligent and thus future-proof mobility. AIT offers holistic solutions for the virtual design of environmentally friendly vehicles. The range extends from vehicle design, prototype development, system analysis and modelling to testing and validation. An integrative approach and close cooperation between AIT experts from different technical disciplines ensure that the best possible solution is always achieved.

Growing societal awareness of environmental impacts, together with the ongoing transformation of transport and energy systems, is creating a clear need for sustainable mobility solutions. As a leading development partner for industry, we aim to bridge the gap between scientific knowledge, technological solutions and market implementation. The project is highly aligned with both objectives, as it addresses a critical challenge for the decarbonisation of freight transport: understanding how battery-electric trucks can be integrated into logistics operations in a technically feasible, economically viable and scalable manner. Our involvement allows us to apply and further develop our expertise in transport systems, digitalisation and impact assessment. At the same time, collaboration with logistics operators, OEMs and research partners ensures that the results are grounded in industrial practice and can be transferred effectively to the market.

AIT supports the development of the evaluation framework for real-life demonstrations, enabling a systematic comparison of battery-electric truck operations with existing road-freight solutions. In addition, AIT leads the coordination of the project’s evaluation phase, which delivers an assessment on the project’s overall outcome, and provides impact assessment and long-term deployment- and upscaling strategies.
